First Post

So I'm sitting here at work waiting for the last half hour to tick by and what do I decide to do with my down time? Create a blog! Everybody breathe I'm not going to get in trouble for doing this...I answer the phone when it rings, greet customers when they come in, my job gets done and Dan (manager) doesn't care what I do in downtime. Cool job huh?

I have downtime like this everyday...well so far. This is the first day we've been able to label ourselves 'busy'. Course the season is just getting going, the next few weeks should be fun...not. But that's how it goes right?

So I'm sitting here, looking at the window at the grey and pasty sky outside, notice the snow slowly melting away and what do I hear? A sign of spring: the merry song of birds!! I heard them on my way in too. I didn't know I'd be able to sit here and hear them most of the day though. And the other day I saw a group of 6 robins scavenging about in the snow. I always thought they flew south for the winter...I was informed otherwise last year. Now I look for them whenever I can. I hate cold weather, it's the one thing in this world that I can say I honestly hate. By midJanuary I'm sick of being stuck indoors, I'm ready to go outside and feel the warm sun on my face. In the summer one of my favorite things to do is go to the local park, sit under a giant shade tree, and read or write. Of course no visit to the park is complete without snapping a few pictures. hehe.

I long for the days to come when I can do that. Instead of being cooped up inside in a stuffy building. Oh well...atleast while I'm at this particular building I can make money =-P The other day I channeled my cabin fever into a few poems:

Cabin Fever
The leaves above my head
The bark against my back
The sun warming my face
This is what I lack

Winter is so long
Everything's so cold
I hate being cooped up
It's getting so old

I long to go exploring
Wondering in the woods
To see all the green plants
Oh, if only I could...

Home
A giant waterfall to the West
The woods to the North
A cabin in the South
And a boulder by the shore

A river winds through
Separating forest from house
I splash right through it
Enjoying the sky without cloud

I hear all the little critters
And see all the plants
I love every living creature
Even the small tiny ants

This is where I long to be
This to me is home
A place away from the city
A place where I can roam

No one else can come here
No one else but me
It exists only in my head
It's my own little fantasy

It's now time for me to go. I'm going to go enjoy some dinner and then relax. Perhaps try to finish the book I'm reading. My goal is to have it done by Sunday night.
